Modern workplace is made up of different factors. At Ergovisual we are well aware of the global nature of work position, since this should facilitate the integration of all the necessary equipment, as well as the well-known human-machine interface.
Improve work environment conditions
Granting best conditions at workplace is the primary goal behind the process of creating technical furniture. This process is based on ergonomic criteria which refer to those aspects aimed at improving user comfort at work.
Currently, all kind devices take part of the usual landscape in our working area. This includes worktop surface, monitors and screens, keyboard, monitor arms or connectivity devices.
Thus, our attempt to conceive a working environment which allows better performances must take into account the relationship between the operator and the deployed technology. Below we highlight some of most relevant features that contribute to the improvement of such interaction.
Definition and setting up of usual working area
Workplace identifies different areas. Usual working area, as its name indicates, responds to that space where operator spends most part of his time. Typically, this refers to a bounded space at worktop surface which includes keyboard, mouse, and a note space.
Given that this is where the operator spends most part of their time, it is necessary to have a clean area. That means no obstacle can be found when accessing this area; and, on the other hand, worktop surface finishes are made of quality materials, avoid roughness and provide rounded edges.
Screens adjustment
Monitor and screens have become a key part of modern workplace. These are crucial when processing live and fluctuable data and information.
Thus, screen adjustment is a must. Whether in height, width, depth or swivel rotation, these must fit each user preferences according to their tasks. In addition, the provision of a dedicated area should allow the installation of single, dual, triple, rails or totems systems.
Cable management with restricted access
Wiring is a crucial issue at current workplaces since it connects all sources with equipment, technology or devices to be used. Wiring is a critical element, therefore it must be managed in an orderly manner, avoiding folded cables, cable separation per each type of source, etc.
To achieve this, dedicated cabling routes must be allocated. In the inner part, dedicated cable paths must allow cable routing towards the upper part, while ensuring the connection of external wiring at feet level or in the side panels from the entry points at ground level.
In addition, cable routing must be carried out privately, with restricted access, thus improving security conditions or avoiding any bothering in usual working area.
Human-machine interface
Regardless of their activity sector, modern workplace demands the interactin between operator and equipment devices. That is the so-called ‘human-machine interface’.
This refers to operability degree of the operator when interacting with deployed technology. Several factors play a role in this process. The closeness proximity to the usual work area, the ease of use of the device, the absence of physical obstacles or providing optimal viewing and communication conditions.
Technical furniture is the right solution
Technical furniture design is aimed at facilitating human-machine interaction. This is done in accordance with ergonomic principles and the requirements originated from the deployment of technologies and new working habits which are increasingly turning common in offices, control rooms and centers, call centers, etc.
